One of the interesting forex tools in the marketplace is the Forex Strategy Builder. The interest surrounding the technology resulted from a need for a bridge between metatrader and the trading systems or indicators traders build.
Defined by a number of key variables, the software works in conjunction with the strategy trader. An interactive trading tool, the sb allows a trader to design a system, backtest the system and then bridge the strategy with the metatrader system through the strategy trader. Some of the important factors that need to be determined when building a system include:
• Time Frame and Currency Pair
The strategy builder allows the trader to choose between short and long term periods and define the currency pair that is used for backtesting purposes. The builder however does not allow multiple currency backtesting.
• Account Settings and Leverage levels
A successful trader will specify their leverage and account settings. These specifications will determine the rate and level of return and could influence the degree of drawdown.
• Indicators and parameters
Technical indicators that the system will feed off.
• Opening and Closing Logics
Opening and Closing logics will define when to enter or exit a position based of the indicators and parameters initially set.
• Take profit / Stop Loss and Trailing Stop Levels
Risk management settings are an important part of the Forex Strategy Builder. Traders can set levels or leave the specifications blank.
The FSB allows complete customisation of technical indicators. Through the toolbar, traders can quickly generate a new technical pattern or system. An important step that will define the success or failure of the trading system, is whether or not the user allows the computer to generate random algorithms. Unlike many systems in the marketplace, the forex strategy builder, allows the trader to generate a complete system by not choosing a technical indicator or specifying a setting.
