Blank Dual Colors

By admin

Does anyone know why an Acer 5570 laptop screen is blanking out?

I have an Acer 5570 laptop–Vista OS, 250g hard drive that is about 70% full (music, not documents), 1.73g Intel dual core processor. (I run antivirus software; I’m confident that it’s not a virus).

While surfing the internet & having as few as 2 other windows open, the screen will just blank out–I have seen it blank out to one of the following colors: white, army green, royal blue, and white-baby blue (current color). From my limited research, it seems that it is probably a motherboard issue. I try and rescue it by pressing suggested key combinations right away to no avail. Shift, Control, Delete, Combo of those doesn’t work either and pressing the power button doesn’t work. The only thing that works is removing the battery and then restarting the computer (yeah, not the best thing to do, but the only thing that works). I keep the laptop properly ventilated as well.

Any idea why it’s doing this, what can I do to make it stop and how harmful this is?

There are 3 reasons for this (applies to both laptop screens and LCD monitors):
1. Capacitor or backlight problem.
2. Loose or defective video connector between motherboard and the laptop screen.
3. Corrupted display card drivers, in which case you’ll have to reinstall the drivers.
