Looking to buy a skateboard, should I get a complete or build a custom?
First of all I am a complete newbie with anything skating so I have no idea what trucks are or bearings which is why I thought buying a complete would be the way to go. However, I heard that buying a blank board and buying my own parts is better because I will have a better setup and a better board in general.
Specifically I want to buy a longboard for transportation and cruising. Any advice?
okay first of all, since you are a brand new skateboarder, you have no idea what you like / dislike (personal preference), which that’s why I recommend complete to start off, then upgrade from there to whatever you prefer. Don’t listen to what other people tell you to get / is good, because you are yourself, you are different, which is why you have your own preference. But I highly recommend a complete to start you off and to learn your preference then you start upgrading to a most expansive customize skateboard. Of course many people would say a complete “sucks”, well that’s only because they are comparing the board they have which fits their preference to a skateboard that’s doesn’t match their preference as much. But hey you don’t know yours yet, so having a complete and custom doesn’t really do you too much different. Some people would say hey why not start off with some parts that are good from the beginning and don’t need to change them, well hey what if you don’t like it? then you wasted you money on customize parts and still have to change them. So complete is not only cheaper but also work for people that just starting out. I respect othersopinion, and wish mine would be respected as well. And the final choice is yours, we are just here to give suggestions, don’t listen to one person, just think about it. Hope this help and good luck with everything and anything! Keep rolling ~
