Custom snake coffee table/ Dumeril’s Boa Feeding.?
First of all, I am having trouble feeding my Dumeril’s Boa. She is 28 inches and eats full sized adult mice. I have been trying to give her f/t. I put her in a tank, them cover it with a blanket so it is completely dark, because she likes that. I had success with a small one once, by putting it over a heating pad under the tank. Any other suggestions?
Next, I want to build a custom snake cage. I really want to make a useable coffee table with a glass/plexiglass top. I would prefer it to be big enough for a 6-7 foot Boa, but if not i can use it temporarily, and later put my corn snakes or ball pythons in it. Does anyone have an blueprint of suggestions? What kind of doors could I use? Will deck sealer prevent mold on the wood? Where can i get a useable door?
Here is an example, but it is way too expensive, and more detailed than I need. http://www.cagesbydesign.com/entity/tabid/76/c-156-coffee-table.aspx

First of all I wouldn’t stress too much about your snake not eating. Snakes go on hunger strikes all the time. With you Dumerils Boa being a little over 2’ long she can probably go about 3 or 4 months without eating before you need to become concerned. Just try to feed her once every 7 – 14 days as normal. If you try to feed more often than that it will just stress you and the snake out.
Personally I wouldn’t use a coffee table snake enclosure. Imagine the snake seeing feet around it all the time and stuff constantly being put on top of it. Just my opinion though. I think it’s a neat idea but scary for the snake.
