Materials Selection for an outdoor deck
The materials and finishes that we use inside our homes require cleaning and maintenance from time to time, the dust, vacuum, mop-n-glo to keep them in good condition and long lasting. Without much effort, we can stay ahead of the wear our children and pets.
Materials on the outside, however take a beating every day from sun, wind, rain, temperature changes, and other elements of the environment (as well as children and dogs). Materials should be much more care and maintenance, but can be reduced somewhat by the selection appropriate materials to meet their objectives.

Much of the tropical wood used for decking material is planted, but some is not and at the retail level it is almost impossible to tell the difference. Most people do not want their decks built at the expense of an acre of rainforest.
Terraces wood composite
Wood composite decking has become very popular recently due to their longevity and environmental characteristics. It is a good imitation of natural wood on the viability and appearance.
It is sold under names like Trex, TimberTech and CorrectDeck, composite board covers are made recycled plastic (usually grocery bags or milk jugs) and wood waste from the ground up. You can cut and attached as real wood and practically requires no maintenance. composite decking imitates the natural wood look, but varies in appearance and performance depending on the manufacturer and the ratio of plastic wood in the mix, usually wood products around 50-60%.
While composite decking can not be stained or painted and natural wood, many manufacturers produce tables of various colors. Since the color is through the material, chips and scratches do not require restaining to maintain a consistent appearance. As with any area of the terrace, the method of securing decking composite structure can enhance or reduce the appearance of the roof.
