Pro Skater Christian Hosoi has long been one of the most controversial figures in sports. Born in 1967, was known by the nickname of "Christ" and "Holmes during childhood and adolescence.
Some pro skaters, Hosoi was one of the youngest started skating at the age of five years. Already at this age, their skateboarding idols were veterans like Tony Alva and Stacy Peralta, who were in the middle of the skateboarding culture in 1970. Christian, his father, Ivan "Pops" Hosoi became the manager of the Marina Del Ray Skatepark shortly after his son started skating seriously. Christian then left school to devote all his time in the skate park, the development of their skills skating. His first major tournament was the Amateur Van Offshore final State of California, where he ranked in the top 5 of the boys 11-13 division in 1980.
While still classified as an amateur, Christian was sponsored by Powell Peralta, a good reputation in this sport. A year later, he left Powell Peralta and does not allow him to turn professional. He then joined Dogtown, one of the original names in sport. Unfortunately, closed its doors shortly after joining. At the age of 14 years in 1981, turned professional, sponsored by Sims Skateboards.
Once it became Pro Hosoi has become a major player in the world of skateboarding Green, joining the professional era popular Steve Caballero and Mike McGill. Its main wins the contest began in 1985 and lasted until 1988. He eventually developed a rivalry with teammate Tony Hawk Pro Skater. In the years 1980, he and Hawk would be known as the biggest names in competitive skateboarding.
Hawk is well known for its technical capacity to perform difficult tricks, Hosoi is known for an elegant touch and unique. Hosoi is credited as the inventor of the Christ Air and Rocket Air tricks, and is also known for its huge antenna. At one point, he was the holder of world record height of the antenna on a skateboard.
As professional skater, Hosoi won important endorsements from companies such as Converse, Swatch. Several Christian Hosoi Pro Model wheels have also been released. In 1984, he founded Hosoi Skates Hosoi, selling a scooter very popular.
Early 1990s, the world of skateboarding had turned his attention to street skaters. As a skater Green, winning competitions Hosoi is less and less. After being involved in a series of companies Skate failed, faced bankruptcy and a growing dependence on drugs. Stopped participating in competitions, and even declined an invitation to the first competition of the X Games, then known as the Games ended. Accused of trafficking in methamphetamine in 2000 had served four years in prison and was released 2004.
In prison, he married his girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez, and became a born again Christian. Today, Hosoi and his wife have two son Christian has graduated from high school, because he had left to devote more time to skate in the skatepark of his father. He lives in Huntington Beach, California, along the center of the skateboarding culture. Hosoi has resumed his career by taking first in the skateboard Games 2009 X 15 "Skateboard Park Legends" competition, where he was invited to participate as well-known name in sports history.
