What are some examples of people that wanted eternal life?
I’m trying to write my first book: The idea of eternal life had been a craving for every corrupt and greedy mind in the world since the beginning. (here i want something short and sweet life: Hitler himself conducted many experiments to find the cure to mortal death himself)
The New Testament of the Bible introduces eternal life as a concept as opposed to the Old Testament which says that death is the end of a person. Some people view the New Testament eternal life concept to be taken out of context and that what was really meant was that if people act with kindness and selflessness living things can exist on the earth a very long time as opposed to longevity of individuals. This Christian concept of afterlife was most likely inspired by the Greek concept of Hades as it does not originate in the Jewish faith prior to the time of Jesus. Jesus often referred to heaven but what he probably really meant was the actual sky because there is tons of evidence he was working with extra-terrestrials.
You have the concept in Hinduism and Buddhism where the soul of the individual loses a measure of its individuality as it passes into the next realm.
Islam, a religion that is almost a xerox copy of Judeo/Christianity gets the idea from Judeo/Christianity obviously.
Vasco de Gama murdered many native Americans in his vain search for the fountain of youth in Florida.
Many North American plains Indian tribes believed in an afterlife that was taken care of by the Great Spirit.
Shintoism believes in the immortality of the sould and many Japanese claim to have spoken with the ghosts of their ancestors.
