PS: Please, don’t exclude the question, I just wonder if this news is true.
I HAVE thought about whether this question is a suitable one for me to answer; a) I haven`t heard this allegation b) I have no desire to blacken (no pun intended) the name of a man no longer in a position to defend himself, and c) you have already made an impassioned plea for a reaction.
Then I remembered that I am British – and a lot of our stock in the world (deserved or otherwise) is, I believe, down to just that; we tend to offer sympathy to EVERYONE, no matter what our information and intelligence tells us. So, partly because I want to be sensible and because I would like to oblige YOU, here`s my answer.
Here is a man whose track record gives every clue that he is not a nice person, rather a bully. Notwithstanding, he has positioned himself as `leader` of an insignificant political party, devoid of rationale, morals or influence. And he is at a stage in his life when there is very little possibility that he could be effectively sanctioned – regardless of the severity or public awareness of any crimes.
Do I think he would also totally fail to hesitate before taking advantage of ANY situation where he decided he wanted something? No. Do I think it is feasible that he wanted sex? Yes. With whatever other being(s) he could lay his hands on? Certainly. Would he have been remotely concerned that this might have been contrary to his public views? Catch yourself on.
Power corrupts; and I personally think that we live in a WORLD where the political classes, having feathered their own nests unchallenged for generations, having created all sorts of `laws` for us -their proletariats- whilst simultaneously leaving escape clauses for any of themselves unlucky enough to be cough (`with their pants down`?).
I have no idea if the story is true, but even the prospect justly serves as an epitaph for a thing the world is not a whit worse off without.
