So you've been offered a good job or a promotion, but it comes with a problem: you have to move to Calgary to accept. This may not be a good thing for someone who already lives in Canada, but for an American moving to Canada can be a very good thing. Do not worry, however, Canada has nothing to fear, there are many good reasons to settle, especially in Calgary. With a little more 1 million people (2009 census civic), Calgary is not a city "small."
It is located between the Rocky Mountains of Canada and Canadian prairies, is a relatively rugged (San Francisco). With high summer temperatures average 84 during the day, but falls 50 per night, and average temperatures range from 15 degrees in winter to 61 degrees in summer. The humidity is relatively low, so that can be a welcome change if it comes from somewhere like Chicago or Miami, who are known for their high levels of humidity.
When not working, Calgary also offers a lot of exciting things to do, including astrophysics observatory, many bars and restaurants in the center, Olympic park with trails and bike MTB freestyle outdoor pools, swimming pools, a skate park, live music, heritage centers, aerospace, Fire, marine, rail and museums (and many other museums), theaters, and more!
Finally, Canadians are known for their conviviality. Remember the last time you were in New York? Think the opposite of that. People in Canada say "please" and "Thank You". So do not be afraid to give Calgary a chance. You may like it so much I never want to leave.
