What is your favorite biological filter media?
I like to experiment with different products. I recently bought Seachem Matrix Bio-Media Communication and put it in one of my magnum 350 filters instead of charcoal. It also made an emperor from 400 to all bio-filtration material + A creative use of a dremmel and aerators. I really like, but the prospect of buying four tubes more of the same at $ 18 a bottle is not something I'm willing to do. Looks like it could be used in other things there too … I was tempted to try Lowes lava rock landscaping chipped in small enough peices to fit. Do you have any means bio favorite? It can be commercial or DIY … Just share your experience.
I have not tried it yet but I'm excited to have some, is a new product called BIOHOME. It is very difficult to find and the only way I know to do things here in the U.S. is on the network.
