Paintball Knee Pads

By admin

A couple paintball questions….?

ok well here goes. Im new at paintball and Im looking for a good gun thats balanced between speed and range? Is a Tippman 98 custom with ACT (anti-chop technology) good? It says it can run on co2 compressed air or nitrogen is it bad to change which one you use and for changing would you need a different tank for each one? or Is some kind of spyder better for a begginer? Also is it good to have a vest that covers your kidneys and other important body parts? How much damage could a paintball do to you if you got hit in certain spots? Are knee pads used for protecton or just for if you slide? which is more common to find filling stations at paintball places for co2 compressed air or nitrogen? I know about nothing and im just digging for information so anything helps THANKS

Is a Tippman 98 custom with ACT (anti-chop technology) good? ** Yeah, it’s okay, but for almost the same money, I’d go for the Tippmann A-5. Cyclone feed is better than most battery powered hoppers out there, and the gun is very upgradeable and customizeable. If you’re playing mostly woodsball, A-5 is the way to go, unless you want to spend more for an X-7

It says it can run on co2 compressed air or nitrogen is it bad to change which one you use and for changing would you need a different tank for each one? ** No problem changing between them, and Tippis will eat any kind of air, no problem. CA, HPA, and Nitrogen are the same thing, and you do need to use a different, more expensive tank that takes the higher pressure. Co2 is cheaper to start with, but HPA is better in many ways and worth the investment. BTW, NEVER try to use a CO2 tank for HPA, it will burst.

or Is some kind of spyder better for a begginer? ** Kingman/Spyders are great guns, as are Smart Parts, but only if you’re playing mostly speedball. They are not as rugged as Tippmanns for woods play, but many players do use then successfully.

Also is it good to have a vest that covers your kidneys and other important body parts? ** Don’t really need one- worst thing a paintball can do to your skin is leave a bruise. Eye protection is most important, so I’d invest in a good fogless goggle system and wear heavy clothes if you’re worried. You may want to buy a vest to carry your pods and other stuff, though.

How much damage could a paintball do to you if you got hit in certain spots? ** See above, but I’d also buy a cup or “slider shorts” if you plan on having kids : )

Are knee pads used for protecton or just for if you slide? ** They are good to have for sliding and to kneel on, and they do protect an area that is mostly skin and nerves on bone, with no fat padding to protect them. I like them.

which is more common to find filling stations at paintball places for co2 compressed air or nitrogen? ** Co2 is found at every paintball field, but not all offer HPA, and if they do they may only offer low pressure (3000psi) fills, which is not a problem if you have a high-pressure tank (4500psi) it just means you will get fewer shots. Many fields are now offering free refills all day on HPA, so if you play a lot, you can save some $$$ here, and HPA is easier on the internal parts of your gun, which will keep maintenance of the gun down.
