Guns N Roses Tour Australia With The V8 Supercars in 2010
The Telstra 500 V8 Supercars race tour takes place at ANZ Stadium in Australia’s Sydney Olympic Park from December 3 to December 5. Fans attending the Saturday festivities of the three-day car racing event will be in for an additional treat, as Guns N Roses will be performing live in Australia for the first time since 2007.
This is an event that will bring rock and racing together and will likely result in Saturday’s Aussie V8 races having the highest attendance. Anyone holding a ticket for the Saturday races will be able to attend the Guns N Roses concert for free.
Prices for the Telstra 500 V8 Supercar races are $91 for Saturday, which includes a full day of car racing and the concert that night. Tickets for all three days are just $156 and are on sale starting July 19. This is the only Sydney date scheduled for Guns N Roses, though other Australian concert dates could be considered. While Axl Rose is the only remaining member of the original band, there are still many fans who are more than excited to finally get a glimpse of Guns N Roses doing a live performance of their 2008 release “Chinese Democracy”.
The Sydney Telstra 500 Aussie V8 race was the largest single-event street race in NSW in 2009, with more than 180,000 people in attendance. Those attending the Saturday and Sunday shows will also be pleased to know that world famous skateboarder Tony Hawk will also be putting on shows at the skate park on these days.
Considering last year’s concert featuring Cold Chisel attracted around 50,000 fans, it is likely that there will be an increase in attendance this year with Guns N Roses performing.
The Telstra 500 V8 Supercars event has been the most popular entertainment and sporting event in the region, and not only because of the concerts. The car races not only brought fans out to the venue, but were also a popular event on Next G mobile phones and BigPond Sport TV.
The CEO of V8 Supercars Australia, Martin Whitaker, has even stated that they have made some improvements in the racing experience for the fans, but won’t divulge any further details until later.
The Aussie V8 Supercars have been called “the greatest show on wheels”, and those in charge have promised more action and excitement in 2010. This is the first V8 Supercar street race ever held in Sydney and will provide attendees with all the excitement and drama of car racing along with a festival-like atmosphere. The Telstra 500 is the Grand Final of the championship series for V8 Supercars racing.
The top three drivers on the Championship board right now are James Courtney, who was last year’s winner of the final race, Jamie Whincup, who was the 2009 V8 Supercar Champion, and Mark Winterbottom, a Sydney-born driver.

Those who want to go should consider picking up tickets as soon as possible, because with the excitement of the races combined with the other festivities Sydney has to offer, it is likely that these tickets won’t last very long.
