SkateBoard setup for older skater..I’m 6 foot 2″ and 90kg?
I’m 40 years old and have been skateboarding for 8 years.
I started when my oldest son was 6 as it just seemed no fun to sit and watch. Now my youngest son is 7 and all three of us enjoy skating. I pretty much only skateparks. I can’t do any tricks per se but enjoy rolling around. I can drop in and really like big bowls or such places where you can get a nice long ride. So…after having skated for quite a few years now I’m ready to get a setup thats more suited to what I enjoy doing. I’ve noticed a trend with a fewof the older guys for larger (longer/wider) boards and am looking for advice about such a setup. What I’m after is more speed. Advice so far has been “get bigger wheels” and folks suggest 60-65mm. What length/width board? Old fish shapes seem to be back in mode.
What size trucks to match a bigger board. I’ve read some other advice here about ceramic bearings and will look into those I think. I’ve been advised to get really hard wheels…

As an avid bowl rider, I too love the speed. My preferred ride is the Santa Cruz old school pool boards. I have two in service, they are very similar, but one is used on concrete and the other, wood.
I also have a couple of Santa Cruz hybrid boards in my quiver. A hybrid board has the nose of an old school and the tail and concave of a new school. They are 8.5-9″ wide.
Another option is to go with a wide new school board. They are available up to 8.75 from Creature and Bacon.

As far as wheels I just threw some Spitfire Salba Lifers 62mm 97a. They are softer than I like, usually skate 99 or 101a wheels in bowls. These wheels go very fast with minimal effort. I’m digging them. The one advantage of being an adult skater is the ability to get skate stuff at will.
