Snowboarding Helmet Questions?
OK, I’ve been snowboarding for a while and I’ve been hitting the more advanced trails alot lately and instead of using a rental I’ve decided to buy my own helmet. But…
What’s the difference between all these helmets? I’ve never really liked the traditional snowboarding helmets so would it be okay to get a full face helmet from the off-road category from http://www.hjchelmets.com/? Would it be okay to get one from the snow category from http://www.hjchelmets.com/?
What I’m basically asking is, is it safe/okay/accepted to snowboard in bmx helmets or snowmobile helmets? I just never liked the way normal snowboarding helmets looked and my parents won’t allow me to board without one?
I don’t want to be that guy going down the black diamond with a helmet in his hand.

If it’s okay to snowboard with either of those which would be better/safer to do it with?
Yeah you could, but you already have a huge blind spot when snowboarding and wearing a helmet that will cover your peripheral vision is probably not a good idea. Why don’t you just get a cool snowboarding helmet on it that makes it an accessory rather than a piece of safety equipment? I never liked helmets until I got a hot pink one, and now I never go on the slopes without it. The BMX one would protect your chin more if you fell, but you’d look a little silly and if it’s chin protection you want, then get a ski racing helmet with a chin bar. Happy riding
