Beginner surfboards are sold in many surf shops. These are surfboards that have the optimum capability of handling novice errors. Beginner surfboards are also safer to use for a newbie. One very important thing to consider when buying your first surfboard is the material it is made of.
The material of your surfboard is very important. There are different kinds of surfboard materials and each has their ups and downs. You should choose one that fits your surfing lifestyle the best. The most beginner-friendly surfboard material is the soft board. Soft boards, or foamies, are made of soft foam, which makes them extremely buoyant. These are great for beginners because they allow you to catch waves easily.
The epoxy is another type of surfboard. Surfers usually call this “the pop out”. Pop outs are made of two things. Inside, it’s made of foam. Outside, the foam is coated with a thick layer of fiberglass. Thanks to its fiberglass exterior, pop outs are heavier as compared to the foam variant. This makes it good for beginners as the weight makes the board steadier in the water. It also has more longevity as compared to a foamie because the foam interior is protected by the fiberglass.
The third type of surfboard is the fiberglass. This type of surfboard is what experienced surfers usually use. They are primarily made of fiberglass and are more expensive than foamies and pop outs. Also, these are more delicate than the other two types of surfboards. They can be damaged easily and can also damage you if you get hit by it when wiping out.
Overall, the best boards you can get as a beginner would be the soft board or the epoxy. They’re more sturdy and can endure novice mistakes more than the fiberglass ones. Beginner surfboards should be sturdy enough to handle your mistakes, but still gentle enough to not hurt you when you fall. Foamies and pop outs fit this description perfectly.
