How to beat the winter blues by making stained glass
How many times have you seen a child running to a window and looking out into the snow that falls with a big smile and a pumpkin and face. Most kids love snow, and the more the better. I know that when I was a kid I loved the snow no doubt, and for two reasons, though often kept me home from school that day, and it made for a fun day playing in it. As children grow in the adults who are often left to play in the snow and fun such as mature with age and stress of everyday life, which makes what some people seem to lose much of his joy. Those who are fortunate enough to have a spouse or children, playful, knows that the joy and fun is something we all need to experience a world without laughter and fun not be a pleasant place to anyone.
In the cold winter days if an adult and you are alone, or with empty time on your hands, why not learn a skill or activity that can help combat the winter blues, and stained glass. We've all seen windows from time to time, either in a window of the church, or a simple hanging window decoration. The stained glass is an art form or activity that uses pieces of colored glass to form a design or image. The desired image can be in the form of a window configuration within the wall of a church, home or other building, or make a decorative stained glass to allow sunlight to shine through. Some people even make shapes of stained glass lamps, such famous designs as Tiffany lamps, come to mind for most people.
Before I go further in this article, I note that this activity is for adults only, which will assume full responsibility for their own actions, not responsible in any way for any accident or other problems caused by any part of this article. When working with stained glass, be careful and use common sense as you would when working around anything that could be dangerous, such as electricity, power tools, and other things.
Stained glass is presented in leaves ranging from different sizes and also comes in a variety of pieces in size and shape. Some of the tools you need when working with glass colors are, a welder, a glass cutter (to mark the glass), a dremel or some other handy little tool for sanding delicate, and a pair of sharp tweezers cutting, and eye goggles, gloves and strong but flexible to protect hands and fingers. There are numerous websites and books that cover the stained glass work in detail, if you want to try your hand at it, you have a ton of valuable information available online. Since this article is about making stained glass as a way to help combat the winter blues, I'll just go over the basics to create a finished project or design.
The glass sheets or pieces can be cut into shapes with tool glass cutting, cutting running through the glass surface creating a cut in it, this is called to mark the glass. The glass is weaker in this area then use the cutters to break the glass or supplemented after the score you made. Always wear eye protection and gloves when working with glass, as it may shatter and flying fragments edges or be cut. Once a piece of glass is cut, it is ground or smoothed with a Dremel tool with the tip or right accessory it. The next step is to add what is called foil around the edges of the glass, this film is what helps to anchor the glass, along with other pieces by welding it.
Once the foil is carried out, the pieces are placed and soldered with the soldering iron to keep them securely in place, next you need to frame or mosaic image has been created to be stable. This winter, when trapped inside with nothing to do, try your hand at stained glass, is a great activity that thousands of adults enjoy, and is a great way to help combat the winter blues.
